"I don’t like the new "trend" of assigning characters different genders/sexualities other than what they were given canonly. I can deal with ships, but all this "x is an aromantic butch genderqueer" is just too much. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for (and is part of) gay/trans* rights, but often when people impose themselves on characters they end up completely destroying that character’s personality, and overall it’s never good for a fandom. I don’t want MH to get bad rep. because of it."
"A bad rep"? For having queer headcanons or for "destroying characters personality"? Who’s supposed to care, some testy homophobe or some uptight nerd? And I think people do just as much of a good job of "destroying" characters personalitys while portraying them with their canon sexuality and gender.
What the hell? No seriously Anon, EVERY FANDOM I’VE EVER BEEN IN has had people head canoning characters sexuality/gender identity. How is it MH will get a bad wrap from it?
What does give fandoms a bad wrap are close minded ‘fans’ who can’t let others enjoy headcanons they don’t agree with because they might have to be exposed to them on occasion. You don’t have to agree with every headcanon, but you have no right to tell people they shouldn’t have them because you might find it ‘icky’.
